BCR, ING Romania extend RON 280 mln loan to Bucharest City Hall to refinance local public debt

Banca Comercială Română (BCR) and ING Bank Romania, some of the largest banks in the country, announced they will lend the Bucharest City Hall a total amount of RON 279.33 million (EUR 53 million) for 10 years, to refinance local public debt originating from capital installments due between June 2026 and June 2027, according to Profit.ro data.

The first lot of the tender concerned the contracting of financing worth up to RON 140.295 million and was won by BCR, which will collect interest amounting to RON 53.67 million.

ING Bank will finance PMB with RON 139.034 million and collect interest of RON 54.193 million.

Back in 2025, Bucharest City Hall awarded BRD-Societe Generale a contract for lending services amounting to up to RON 131.39 million to co-finance the project to extend and rehabilitate water and wastewater infrastructure in the Ghidigeni, Olteniței, Cheile Turzii, and Henri Coandă areas. The institution also awarded BRD-Groupe Societe Generale a financing contract worth RON 150 million for 10 years.

The money went to projects such as the reconstruction and modernization of the Mihai Flamaropol ice rink, the widening of Ghencea Boulevard between Brașov Street and tram terminal 41, the construction of public water supply, sewerage and public lighting networks, as well as the roads related to the Henri Coandă housing complex.
