Romanian tennis player Simona Halep is on the list of highest-paid female athletes in the world, according to a report released by Forbes. With total earnings of USD 6.8 million between June 2014 and June 2015, Halep ranks 7th in the top. Tennis players dominate the list with seven entries. Russian Maria Sharapova ranks first with USD 29.7 million, followed by American Serena Williams, who earned USD 24.6 million from prize money and endorsements. Sharapova is the world’s highest-paid female athlete for the 11th straight year. Danish Caroline Wozniacki comes third with total earnings of USD 14.6 million, followed by Nascar’s Danica Patrick – USD 13.9 million, tennis player Ana Ivanovic – USD 8.3 million, and Petra Kvitova – USD 7.7 million. UFC star Ronda Rousey ranks eighth in Forbes’ top with estimated earnings of USD 6.5 million. American professional golfer Stacy Lewis comes next with total earnings of USD 6.4 million, followed by tennis player Agnieszka Radwanska with USD 6 million. Simona Halep reached the quarterfinals of the Rogers Cup in Toronto on Thursday, August 13 after she defeated Angelique Kerber 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. Next up for Halep is the No.6 seed and defending Rogers Cup champion, Agnieszka Radwanska. The Rogers Cup takes place in Toronto, Canada, and will end on August 16.
